The Legal Thought Pages

My business partner and I decided to meet with an attorney today. We spent most of the time discussing Phoenix Chapter 13 bankruptcy laws. I really hope our business picks up soon or this might be an option we have to consider. The meeting is just a precautionary measure for us right now. We both thought it would be a good idea to know our options. Our goal is to eliminate as many surprises as we can. We really didn’t anticipate business being this slow. I think we both feel a bit silly for not thinking things through more carefully before we opened this art gallery. I guess we foolishly thought we’d be turning a profit already. I guess we also let some of our optimism get in the way of common sense. I think today’s meeting got us really thinking about all the things we need to do differently if we really want to succeed and make this venture work. I sort of wish I had listened to my partner on this. She wanted to spend at least another year researching the ins and outs of owning a business, but I was in so much of a hurry. I wanted this space before anyone else got to it. What good is having a nice space when we’re not sure if we’ll even be able to keep it now? I guess it just shows that you really can’t be in a hurry when it comes to making such important decisions.
