BUILDING YOUR RESUME
They say temp employment is a good way of building up your resume. Honestly, I’ve done temping and I never learned anything doing these jobs that I wouldn’t have learned on my own anyway. Those jobs also didn’t lead anywhere either. I worked them for a few weeks and then they were done. They don’t particularly impress anyone since they’re typical office jobs. I don’t understand what happened to the job market. Why is it that a college degree means next to nothing these days? I didn’t go to college and then graduate school only then to go to trade school. What was the point of all the hard work I did as a student? I was always told having degrees would open doors for you, but instead I’m always having them shut in my face. Everyone wants three years of experience or so when you apply for a job. Then how does anyone get started? You might suggest internships, but no internship lasts 3 years. So is it a matter of how to present yourself? I really don’t know. I do my best and it’s still not enough. There’s supposed to be a method to getting a job, but who teaches you all about that? How are you supposed to pick that up all by yourself? This is like a dog trying to chase his own tail. You get nowhere.
